World Savings Day

On October 31, World  Savings Day is celebrated globally. This year, the Deposit Guarantee Fund once again organized a symbolic event, which also highlighted the results of the individual work competition dedicated to the holiday. During the event were emphasized the importance of savings and their role in today’s rapidly changing era.

The event was attended by representatives of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, the Union of Banks of Armenia, the Office of the Financial System Mediator, the Economic Journalists’ Club NGO, and members of the FEP Commission.

The welcoming address was delivered by Narek Ghazaryan, Member of the Board of the Central Bank of Armenia and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Deposit Guarantee Fund. The Fund’s Executive Director, Hermine Harutyunyan, also greeted the guests, once again highlighting the importance of developing a culture of savings. Ashkhen Budaghyan, a first-year master’s student at the French University in Armenia, who is completing an internship at the Fund, reflected on previous events organized by the Fund for World Savings Day.

The jury members welcomed the participants’ new ideas and proposals and summarized the competition results.

“Savings as a Safety Cushion or a Means to Wealth?” – Rita Baghdasaryan

Representatives of Wikimedia Armenia also participated in the event.

The awardees and participants of the competition received encouragement awards from the Deposit Guarantee Fund, the Union of Banks of Armenia, and the Office of the Financial System Mediator.
